Frequently Asked Question

Are alerts guaranteed?
Last Updated 6 years ago

No. There are several factors over which SeeClear have no control and they will impact, alert timing and alert accuracy. These factors are as follows:

  • SeeClear utilises a 3rd Party for SMS Communications and as such cannot guarantee the timely delivery of any SMS’s.
  • In-Session Transactions: The Mobile Carriers are unable to send CDR’s [Call Detailed Records often used for alerting] until the user has finished their respective session/transaction/activity. IE: if the user is midway through a call or a data session/transaction/activity, we will not receive the CDR until the session/transaction has been completed and as the accuracy and timely notification of Automated Alerting will be affected.
  • Roaming CDR’s: In order for our Carriers to bill their customers international roaming, our local Carriers are dependent on the international carriers to send them the billing CDR’s for any South African users that may have been roaming. These CDR’s can often be delayed, sometimes as far as 120 days. In these instances, the accuracy and timely notification of Automated Alerting will be affected.
  • Late CDR’s: It’s not uncommon for the Carriers to send late CDR’s to us. In these instances, the accuracy and timely notification of Automated Alerting will be affected.

No VS code loaded [Vodacom only]: In order to receive CDR’s from Vodacom, a “VS Code” needs to be activated on each unique MSISDN. In most cases this is done during the on-boarding phase of any customer, but in the event the customer adds new Vodacom MSISDN’s and or Account Numbers without requesting that SeeClear loads the VS code, we may not receive CDR’s for the particular MSISDN(S) and as such we will be unable to track consumption and therefore Automated Alerting will be ineffective
